Founded in memory of Angie Levy in June 2008, Angie's Spa provides free spa services for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. All professional advice and services including legal, accounting, web design, public relations and even our own staff work pro bono. In addition, 100% of our grants to hospitals go directly to the patients with the hospitals themselves absorbing the overhead and adminstrative costs, furthering our goal of getting the maximum possible amount into the programs themselves.
Studies have proven that both the mind and spirit play important roles in healing the body. For people affected by cancer, complementary and holistic treatments have been shown to have especially powerful effects in reducing pain and other side effects, boosting energy levels and mood, and promoting an overall improvement in their quality of life by decreasing stress, anxiety, depression and fatigue.
Through the generous support of our donors, our goal is to open Angie's Spa programs at cancer facilities throughout the country, to provide a silver lining on an otherwise dark and cloudy chemo day.
Founded in memory of Angie Levy, Angie's Spa is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that funds hospital programs across the country with the express purpose of providing free therapeutic spa services to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. These spa services are designed to alleviate painful side effects, provide relaxation to enhance traditional treatments and give cancer patients a self-esteem boost.
As a 100% volunteer organization, including all of the Angie’s Spa staff, legal counsel from Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP; advisors from the entertainment, financial industries and more, Angie's Spa insures that all raised funds go directly towards patient services.
A distinct aspect of Angie's Spa is that everyone involved has been personally touched by cancer, and therefore has a unique and specific understanding of the needs and interests of cancer patients and their families.
As of October 2009, Angie’s Spa is funding two hospital programs, one at the Northridge Hospital in California and the second at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. Both of the hospitals are community-based, thus providing therapeutic spa services to economically under-served populations. Feedback from masseuses, hospital administrators and testimonials from the patients have been incredibly positive and have pushed us even more to raise funds for additional hospitals across the county.
