Thank you so much for the grant for wellness treatments for all cancer patients at Southampton Hospital. I had a 1/2 hour massage today with Loretta at The Wellness Institute of Southampton Hospital. I chose the massage for my first treatment as I am used to the body work and felt I needed a good flushing. What was also important was the art of professional touch of massage therapy. It was a much "kneaded" massage and it is so special that it is now offered for free to cancer patients who would not otherwise be able to afford it. I really feel so much better and have more energy than I did before the treatment. Thank you to those who gave this grant for this fabulous service for those who need it the most.

MD Anderson Cancer Center

One Year Grant awarded April 23, 2012 for $20,842.25. Continuation of the Angie's Spa program for 2012-13. This year in addition to providing FREE therapeutic massages for cancer patients undergoing treatment at MD Anderson, we are also funding FREE acupuncture for inpatients in acute need of treatment for pain.

April 2011 Update

Increased Massages - from 2 to 3 days a week due to additional massages that can be offered as a result of their bake sale where all proceeds go to their Angie’s Spa program.
Back-Up Massage Therapist - A back-up massage therapist will be added to help when the other massage therapists are out sick or on vacation.
Massage Report & Surveys
1. Total 1,208 massages as of April 2012.
2. Inpatient massages total 25% and outpatient massages total 75%.
3. Patient survey during the quarter (Jan-April) showed 36 % of the patients received massages in the radiation therapy department and 46% in the chemotherapy department.
4. Foot massages are the most popular at 54% followed by neck/shoulder at 39%.
